Morning Links: Price gets Vezina props from Martin Brodeur

If NHL players could make the selection for the Vezina Trophy, Martin Brodeur‘s vote would certainly be an important one. Anf this season, he would go with the Montreal CanadiensCarey Price.

Brodeur spoke to J.F. Chaumont of Radio-Canada, and a panelist for us this season, on Tuesday, prior to the New Jersey Devils meeting with the Boston Bruins. The full story can be read here

A four-time Vezina winner himself, Brodeur notes Price’s ability to maintain a successful season, backing an injury ravaged team as a key factor. “When I look at what Price has done in Montreal with injuries on defense this season, it’s really hard not se,” he said. “To win the Vezina trophy, you should be in the top 10 or top 5 in all categories of statistics and Price is everywhere.”

Brodeur goes on to acknowledge that he feels Price outdistances any current rivals to the finish line, seeing beyond the statistics ex: Tim Thomas playing fewer games, or Roberto Luongo having a strong team in front of him.

The furure Hall of Fame goaltender is not alone, as several other hockey mainstreamers are in the same boat. A few of them are even suggesting a Hart Trophy possibility, but there is still some more hockey to be played until final voting takes place for both awards.
