Canadiens vs Flyers Top Six Minutes – Sadness And Despair Edition

  • Like what the hell was that first Habs power play?
  • The second one was a marked improvement. Let’s chalk it up to the little group huddle P.K. Subban and Andrei Markov had with the rest of the PP during the break.
  • Unfortunately the rest of the power plays were all downhill from there. The rest of everything was all downhill from there.
  • The Flyers played a game in New Jersey last night. So obviously they destroyed the Habs in the first period. Per MathMan, about 12 minutes in, the Habs FenClose was 3-10, the period ended with shots even but the underlying stats were as follows:

  • The fancy stats were not much better for the rest of the game. I hate Extra Skater as much as I love it sometimes, because it’s basically a website where your worst Habs nightmares come true.
  • For the rest of the season: please fire this coach, please scratch Francis Bouillon and Douglas Murray forever (don’t buy them out) and call up any two of Jarred Tinordi, Nathan Beaulieu, and Greg Pateryn on an alternating basis if not for good.
  • I don’t know how much longer I can watch Habs games without crying. Even when they win, they play so badly that I am either bored or dismayed almost to the point of tears. I wish I could quit the Habs and be a Blackhawks or Kings or Bruins fan.
  • And don’t accuse me of not being a real fan or negative or whatever. I’m only negative because I care and this team is playing like garbage that was thrown into a tire and set on fire. A hybrid garbage and tire fire. It’s gotten to a point where I get horrifically bitter when I see fans of other teams get excited about wins or win streaks.
  • Your 2013-2014 Montreal Canadiens cannot break out of their own zone. They have speedy, skilled players, and they cannot get out of their own zone. They have played against some underwhelming defense and goaltending as of late, and they cannot break out of their own zone.
  • Except when they’re on the penalty kill. Tomas Plekanec is a GOD.
  • My scientific assessment of the situation is that they should eliminate the defensive zone in the NHL and then the Habs can win the cup.
  • Here is a question, why is it, at even strength, there is always at least one guy in orange wide open right in the slot, usually with someone they can easily pass to?
  • What is the opposite of defensive coverage? The Montreal Canadiens.
  • It took nine minutes for the Canadiens to register a shot on Steve Mason in the third period. For the entirety of that 9-minute period, P.K. Subban was either in the penalty box, or benched.
  • I do not understand how you can possibly bench P.K. Subban, at any time, ever. Therrien should be fired on the spot based on that alone.
  • Rene Bourque compliment of the night for JD__: at least one shot attempt. I think. Maybe
  • Have the Habs beat a single team playing on the second night of a back-to-back this year?
  • The Flyers were playing only okay, but they looked world class against these Habs.
  • Zac Rinaldo’s hair is hilarious.
  • Three stars of the night: I can’t. I’m sorry. I can’t read any more about this game.
