The Islanders tried a change in net for Game 3, hoping Ilya Sorokin could find the form he’s shown throughout his NHL career. but after he allowed three goals in the opening half of the contest, Patrick Roy made the call to put Semyon Varlamov back in. The damage has been done, and the Islanders couldn’t climb back into the contest. Now, the team that played well enough to claim the third seed in the Metropolitan Division is the first one to face elimination in the 2024 post-season.

Game 4: Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Florida Panthers

FLA leads 3-0

How to watch

The second team with its season on the line is Tampa Bay. They’ve run into an opponent that isn’t fazed by the quick-strike offence against the run of play, and have the talent of their own to outscore those moments. The Lightning will either have to find a way to generate more or surrender less to avoid an early end to their playoff run.

Game 4: Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins

BOS leads 2-1

How to watch

Start time: 8:00 PM EDT / 5:00 PM PDT
In Canada: CBC, Sportsnet (English) TVA Sports (French)
In the U.S.: TBS
Streaming: CBC Gem, ESPN+, Sportsnet+

Both teams played well in Game 3, but only one could win, and that happened to be the Bruins to take the series edge. It sounds like William Nylander will finally be able to make his series debut tonight, so if Toronto can put in the same effort with one its superstars back, the result could be different tonight.

Game 3: Vegas Golden Knights vs. Dallas Stars

VGK leads 2-0

How to watch

Start time: 10:30 PM EDT / 7:30 PM PDT
In Canada: Sportsnet (English) TVA Sports (French)
In the U.S.: TBS
Streaming: ESPN+, Sportsnet+

Dallas was contained to just eight shots in the final 40 minutes of play in Game 2, unable to add to the one goal they scored in the first period. They haven’t troubled the Golden Knights much at all in this series despite being the number-one seed in the conference, and they will now have to find a way to change that on the road.
