2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Game 3: Washington Capitals vs. New York Rangers

NYR leads 2-0

How to watch

Game 2 was much closer than the first match, but the Rangers still ended up coming away with another win, sweeping the opening two games at home. The Capitals saw that they could compete with the Presidents’ Trophy-winners, however, and the advantage of playing at Capital One Arena may be just what they need to get a win on the board.

Game 3: Nashville Predators vs. Vancouver Canucks

Series tied 1-1

Start time: 7:30 PM EDT / 4:30 PM PDT

The news isn’t good for Thatcher Demko, and it’s tough for any team with a clear number-one goaltender to manage without their main man in the crease. Vancouver will have to find a way to get by with Casey DeSmith in net, but they will also need to have better offensive tactics than firing pucks at a wall of Predators as they did in Game 2.

Game 3: Colorado Avalanche vs. Winnipeg Jets

Series tied 1-1

How to watch

Start time: 10:00 PM EDT / 7:00 PM PDT
In Canada: CBC English) TVA Sports (French)
In the U.S.: TNT
Streaming: CBC Gem, ESPN+, Sportsnet+

Winnipeg thought the offence was going to come as easy for them in Game 2 as it did in Game 1, and they were much too casual with their plays in the offensive zone as a result. Now, it’s Connor Hellebuyck who is the goalie to be concerned about as he has surrendered 11 goals in the series already. That performance won’t be good enough for the Jets, especially in the most difficult arena for a road team.

Game 3: Los Angeles Kings vs. Edmonton Oilers

Series tied 1-1

How to watch

Start time: 10:30 PM EDT / 7:30 PM PDT

The story has played out the same for all the Western Canadian teams: a win in Game 1 followed by a loss that flipped home-ice advantage to the opponent. Edmonton did at least fight to come back to tie their game on a couple of occasions, so if you were going to pick the Canadian team with the best chance of getting a win on Friday night, the Oilers are probably your best bet.
