It was a surprise when Mikhail Sergachev made the Montreal Canadiens Opening Night roster, but after three NHL games, and being a healthy scratch for six of the first nine games of the season, the Canadiens sent him back to the Ontario Hockey League’s Windsor Spitfires.

Sergachev has a ton of talent, but the ninth-overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft was not obviously ready for the NHL on a full-time basis but with a month on the NHL roster, the goal was for him to soak in as much as he could.
He played three games with the Canadiens in the regular season, and did not register a point.
#canadiens goal was to have Mikhail Sergachev with the team for the month of October to learn as much as possible.

Windsor will host the Memorial Cup this year, and they have the talent on the roster to make a legitimate push. Adding the reigning OHL defender of the year to the mix can only bode well for their Cup dreams.
