Shea Weber named NHL’s third star of the week

Montreal Canadiens defenceman Shea Weber was named the third star of the week in the National Hockey League behind first star Craig Anderson and Devan Dubnyk.

In four games this past week Shea Weber scored three goals and put up two assists. Two of his goals were game winners on the power play, allowing the Canadiens to win all their games this week.

In addition Weber was also named the Molson Cup winner for the month of October by the Montreal Canadiens.

Weber leads the Canadiens with 10 points so far this season, the only player scoring at above a point per game pace. His numbers thus far are among the League’s best, leading everyone with a +12 rating and 3 game winning goals. He is averaging around 25 minutes of ice time per game, first among all defenceman with the Canadiens.

The Canadiens sit at the top of the standings in the NHL after nine games. They play again on Wednesday against the Vancouver Canucks, before back-to-back games against Columbus and Philadelphia on the weekend.
