Canadiens recall Charlie Lindgren from Laval

With the news breaking that Carey Price will miss the next game against the Winnipeg Jets with a lower body injury, the Canadiens needed to call up a replacement to back up Al Montoya on Saturday night.

The honour fell to the Laval Rocket’s starting goaltender Charlie Lindgren, who will join the team in Manitoba for Saturday’s game. In his short NHL time Lindgren is 3-0-0 with a 1.65 GAA and .943 SV%.

Despite being the lynch pin in St. John’s last year, Lindgren has struggled a bit with the Rocket this season. His record sits at 3-3-2 with a 3.53 GAA and .885 SV% in nine starts this year. In a bit of good news, in recent games he appears to be returning closer to the form he was in last year, which is good news for both the Canadiens and the Rocket.

Zach Fucale will start for the Rocket tonight. They also signed goaltender Karel St-Laurent to an amateur tryout contract, the team announced. St-Laurent is currently with Sorel of the LNAH. He will back up Fucale tonight. The Rocket also play tomorrow.
