Carey Price out with lower body injury

After missing practice due to a treatment day, Claude Julien has announced that Carey Price is out with a “minor” lower body injury.

Al Montoya will get the start tomorrow against his former NHL team, the Winnipeg Jets. Julien also said that the team will recall a goaltender to backup Montoya.

You have to wonder whether the injury occurred yesterday or whether it has lingered and could possibly explain his slow start. Remember that Price sat out a game against Ottawa, when he would normally start against a divisional rival.

This complicates things for the Canadiens as the Rocket play tonight. A domino effect means they need to get Michael McNiven to Laval to replace whoever gets called up to backup Montoya and travels to Winnipeg.

No word on how long Price is expected to be out and while the ‘minor’ designation is positive, and Price did finish the game last night, it wouldn’t be the first time that he has tried to play through something serious.
