Canadiens vs Rangers second period thread

Pacioretty opened the scoring with a goal that elicited huge roars from the Bell Centre faithful. Then McDonagh silenced those roars with a terrible bounce that slipped by Tokarski. I could hear the Charlie Brown music playing in my head as Tokarski dug the puck out of the net.

The Canadiens controlled the majority of the period, aside from the McDonagh goal (which was just bad luck) and the Vanek slash, and it was better than anyone could have hoped. But then Nash scored

Definitely a promising period. The Habs came out with jump, had a number of good chances, and skated well. Essentially they didn’t lose the game in the first period and that was my biggest fear going into this game (ok that and Murray dressing, but the two are one in the same). The Nash goal was possibly the worst thing that could have happened in that last minute.

The Habs needed to switch the pressure off Tokarski and shift it to the Rangers and for the most part did a solid job of it. Tokarski read the puck well. His body language after goals didn’t inspire confidence, but he’s starting a playoff game at home in Montreal – who can blame him?
