The Montreal Canadiens, after an extremely tough week on the ice, received a bit more bad news about two of their players’ health this week.
.@shawz15er ne sera pas de retour avant la pause du Match des étoiles. Tout comme Shea Weber.
Andrew Shaw will not be back before the All-Star break. Neither will Shea Weber.#GoHabsGo

Shea Weber was already doubtful to come back before the All-Star break, as he recovers from a lower body injury that he suffered on opening night. While he tried to play through the injury he eventually succumbed and had to be moved to injured reserve in order to recover.
Andrew Shaw was originally injured in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Boston Bruins just over a week ago. The team said he would be re-evaluated in that time frame and it’s clear that the injury might be slightly more serious than first thought.
This leaves Montreal thin on the defensive side of the puck, and barren at NHL level centres with Shaw being out. As the season spirals it might be worth keeping an eye on potential call ups from the AHL, or for some more transactions to happen if both injuries require more than just rest.
