World Cup of Hockey: Sweden final roster announcement
Coming off a World Championship with a makeshift roster, Sweden will be back in full force for the World Cup of Hockey.
Rikard Grönborg will start his tenure as national team coach with the World Cup of Hockey in Canada this fall. He is not new to coaching a national team as he previously held the position as coach for the Swedish junior team. The question is how he will handle the professionals of NHL and the coaches that stand behind the opposing bench. He will lead a coaching team that also has former Tre Kronor greats Daniel Alfredsson, Mats Sundin and Nicklas Lidström.

Missing players
John Klingberg is the obvious player to have been left out. While I would have included him in my personal team, Grönborg probably felt that there is no use taking him to play limited minutes on a third pairing or even keep him as a seventh defensemen. I would still have exchanged Kronwall for Klingberg but Grönborg might want a leader that doesn't mind a minor role on the team.
Targets
The players say that it is final that is the target, and when there the only logical thing is to go for gold after winning silver at the Sochi Olympics. With a defensive squad that is the envy of almost all countries, the high end depth among the forwards and the goaltending depth behind Henrik Lundqvist is a bit of a concern.
