Here’s a few updates for autograph and memorabilia collectors of Le Bleu, Blanc et Rouge.
First up is an important scheduling change for this week’s Toronto autograph signing by Carey Price. The signing will still be at AJSportsworld, but it has moved up a day to Friday September 9 at 6:45 pm.
For those closer to the home base in Montreal, Price Travis Moen and Josh Gorges will be doing a signing at A.L. Collections (4320 Grand-Allee in Boisbriand, QC) on October 16th from 3pm to 5pm. More info, including fees and special package deals can be found here.
Of course the fall season not only brings the NHL season to a start, but also a pair of key dates for memorabilia collectors, both of which involve plenty of Habs greats and collectibles.
This year’s semi-annual Toronto Sportcard and Memorabilia show, running November 11 to 13, will host signings by five past Habs greats. Four of those are Hall of Fame members, including 2011 HHOF inductee Doug Gilmour. Steve Shutt, Jacques Lemaire, and Jacques Laperriere will also man the autograph stage over the three days along with fellow HHOFers Gordie Howe, Raymond Bourque and Peter Stastny.
“The history of the Canadiens greatness keeps fans interested,” said Andrew Goldfarb of AJSportsworld, who will oversee the autograph appearances at the event. “All the Original Six teams, other than New York, draw well in Toronto but Montreal has had so many great players over the years that it is easier to keep finding athletes
who our clients want to see.”
Goldfarb noted that the Canadiens have always been great to come out and make appearances right in the middle of Leafs land over the years.
“Most of them are great to work with, Jean Beliveau is a true gentleman and P.K. Subban (who made a store appearance last week) is amazing with the fans,” Goldfarb said. “But that does not mean they are the most enjoyable, as I don’t want to forget the 150 other Canadiens who were great to have in, but they certainly come to mind as amazing people.”
Former Habs captain Mike Keane will also be on hand along with several other past NHL heroes which gives collectors a diverse mix of player signatures to acquire. The blending of players from a specific team/era also goes well with the former players as well.
“I know the athletes always have a good time when they get together with former teammates,” Goldfarb added. “For those who attended the dinner at our Flyers/Bruins reunion shows, you could see the teammates were thrilled to get together again.”

Also on the horizon is Classic Auctions‘ 2011 Fall Auction. One of North America’s biggest online auction houses for sports memorabilia, final consignments for the fall edition are still being finalized, but some major items are starting to be previewed.
Included in this season’s catalog will be a large collection of items from former Habs Sniper Pierre Larouche and the estate of Slovak goaltending legend Vladimir Dzurilla.
A collection from Vincent Damphousse, as well as the last pair of skated that Habs legend Howie Morenz wore will also be up for bid. We will update this auction as more information becomes available.
