TSN releases a prospective Team Canada roster for Sochi

TSN's panel used their insight into Team Canada's selection process to create a possible Team Canada roster, what do you think?

TORONTO (August 27, 2013) - TSN today revealed its projected Team Canada for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. The projected selections represent the consensus opinion of the NHL on TSN panel featuring James Duthie, Bob McKenzie, Darren Dreger, Pierre LeBrun, and Ray Ferraro, who are all live on location in Calgary for Canada's National Men's Team orientation camp.

The projected team was revealed in two segments that premiered in tonight's 6 p.m. ET edition of SPORTSCENTRE on TSN2 (click here to watch both segments).

TSN's Team Canada projection for Sochi 2014 is as follows:

Goalies

Roberto Luongo
Carey Price
Mike Smith

Defence

Left Defence - Right Defence

Duncan Keith - Drew Doughty
Marc Staal - Shea Weber
Jay Bouwmeester - Alex Pietrangelo
Dan Boyle - PK Subban

Forwards

Left Wing - Centre - Right Wing

Chris Kunitz - Sidney Crosby - Steven Stamkos
Eric Staal - Jonathan Toews - Rick Nash
Logan Couture - John Tavares - Claude Giroux
Patrick Sharp - Ryan Getzlaf - Jeff Carter
[blank] - Patrice Bergeron - Martin St. Louis

Even putting aside that the fourth defense pairing is better than the second and third pairings, this team has some extremely notable snubs.

Remember that waaaaay back we picked a roster for Team Canada as well, and this is what we had:

Forwards

Taylor Hall - Sidney Crosby - Steven Stamkos
Claude Giroux - John Tavares - Corey Perry
Eric Staal - Jonathan Toews - Tyler Seguin
Jamie Benn - Patrice Bergeron - Rick Nash
James Neal

Defensemen

P.K. Subban - Drew Doughty
Duncan Keith - Shea Weber
Alex Pietrangelo - Kris Letang
Brent Seabrook

Goaltenders

Carey Price
Roberto Luongo
Cam Ward

Now we picked ours before we knew that Team Canada could have an extra forward and extra defenseman, but let's add Logan Couture and Dan Boyle to the mix on the EOTP team. What team do you think wins in a head to head series?

Which team has a better chance for gold?
