Coming off a poor performance on Friday night, the IceCaps were in need of a bounce-back game on Saturday, and that’s just what they got.
Slyvain Lefebrve elected to go with Yann Danis between the pipes for the second night in a row, and the veteran repaid his coaches faith by making 29 saves in a 4-2 victory.
Mike Blunden’s 14th of the season opened the scoring for Binghamton, just five minutes into the game.
Early in the second, Jacob de la Rose scored his first of two on the night, tying things at 1-1.

Six minutes later, Bobby Farnham found himself in all alone while shorthanded. The veteran forward made no mistake, burying his 10th of the season past Matt O’Connor. Farnham is the seventh IceCap to reach double digits in goals this season.

Things started to heat up between the two rivals and penalties came fast an furious. By the end of the period, Brett Lernout and Nick Paul received a 10 minute misconduct for continuing altercation.
Midway through the third, Phil Varone notched his 14th of the season to tie things at 2-2.
Then, with just under three minutes remaining in regulation, off a feed from Chris Terry, Charles Hudon roofed the eventual game winner over the glove hand of O’Connor.

De La Rose added an empty-netter with four seconds remaining to seal the victory for St. John’s.

Highlights:
It continues to be close in the North Division standings, but thanks to their win last night and the Albany Devils and Utica Comets also losing their games on Friday, the IceCaps held on to their playoff spot.
The IceCaps have six more game ahead of them. They hit the road for four games, before finishing off their season at Mile One against the Marlies, on April 14th and 15th.
