IceCaps vs. Senators recap: Chris Terry’s two goals not enough to defeat Binghamton

The St. John’s IceCaps squared off with a struggling divisional rival, the Binghamton Senators, on Friday night for the first of back-to-back games.

Yann Danis got the start for St. John’s, in place of the recently recalled Charlie Lindgren. Unfortunately for the IceCaps, Danis was shaky at best on the night.

Chris Terry opened the scoring for the home side. His team-leading 26th goal of the season came on the power play as he rifled a shot from the left circle, beating Matt O’Connor over the shoulder.

Later in the period, while chasing a puck in the corner, Daniel Carr tripped, and was then hit by Charles-David Beaudoin in the head. Carr did not return to the game.

Before the intermission, Binghamton had an equalizer. Casey Bailey beat Danis from a tough angle to tie things up at 1-1.

Two minutes into the second period, the Senators took the lead. Colin White’s first professional goal put the Sens up 2-1.

Midway through the frame, the IceCaps went on the power play. It was once again Chris Terry, from the left circle, beating O’Connor high glove, tying things up at 2-2.

Three minutes later, Brandon Gormley’s point shot beat a screened Danis, putting the visitors up 3-2.

In the third, Andreas Englund’s third of the season gave the Senators a two-goal lead, the final tally in an eventually 4-2 win.
