Canadiens vs. Senators second period thread

It was a fast start that saw the Habs jump to a 17-13 lead in shot attempts by the midway point of the first period. Both goalies were caught scrambling multiple times, but could not be bested.

The Habs’ injury prowess extended to ref Eric Furlatt who had to leave the game midway through the first period.

The Canadiens powerplay went to… work with eight and a half minutes left in the first period. The Habs powerplay has been as stale as the bread in the bottom of my freezer for about ten games. Mark Stone intercepted a pass along the Sens’ blue line by Lars Eller and darted up the ice with Jean-Gabriel Pageau who scored his one millionth goal against the Canadiens in his career to put the Senators up 1-0.

Mike Brown dropped the gloves with Chris Neil and took a few fists to the forehead. Brown has fought in pretty much every game since being picked up by the Habs.

Nathan Beaulieu looked like he was in a lot of pain after sacrificing the body to block a shot with under a few minutes left in the first period.

The Habs trail 1-0 heading into the second period.
