Canadiens vs. Senators Game Thread, roster, lines, and how to watch

With nine players listed on the injury reserve, the Canadiens stumble in Ottawa after taking an exciting 3-2 overtime win in Buffalo Wednesday night, a win that cost them yet another body with Mark Barberio the victim this time around. The Habs have 254 man-games lost to injury, which ranks them sixth in the NHL behind five other non-playoff teams.

With eleven games left in the season, the quest for the playoffs is 0.1 percent away from being lost in mathematical terms. It’s all but over. In the meantime, there’s a chance to watch Alex Galchenyuk continue to tear it up and add to his point total since February 24th where he has had 14 points in 11 games.

The Senators lost in Buffalo last night, so the Habs should have the jump on the Sens, who have also experienced a very disappointing season after showing so much promise late in the 2014-15 season. Scott Gomez finds himself on the Sens’ third line if that’s any sign of how things have been going for them.

Lineup notes: Mark Barberio will not play tonight after leaving Wednesday’s game with concussion-like symptoms; Alexei Emelin will move up to the top pairing in his place; P.K. Subban will miss both tonight and tomorrow night’s game still battling a neck injury; Darren Deitz was called back up from St. John’s to fortify the defensive corps; Mike Brown remains in the lineup; Ben Scrivens gets the start after a strong performance Wednesday in Buffalo.

The puck drops at 7:00 PM EDT.
