Montreal Canadiens recall Cayden Primeau, Carey Price out vs. Toronto

The Montreal Canadiens have recalled Cayden Primeau from the Laval Rocket on Tuesday.

Primeau will be on the team’s taxi squad meaning that Charlie Lindgren will be the backup to Jake Allen. Carey Price will not make the trip to Toronto for Wednesday’s game.

It is likely that with another game at home on Thursday that the Canadiens are allowing Price to rest before starting the next game and avoid the back-to-back with travel.

The Rocket play on Tuesday night at the Bell Centre before going to Toronto this weekend. Joël Bouchard hinted that Vasili Demchenko would get a start shortly anyway, so it is likely this switch is more of a formality than anything else.

Primeau is 11-3-0 with the Rocket this season, with a 2.07 goals against average and .911 save percentage. He has two shutouts.

Price appeared to be in discomfort during Monday’s win, but finished the game.
