After Samuel Montembeault ended his personal losing streak in Colorado, he cedes the crease to Cayden Primeau for the first game back at home. There are a lot of tough opponents on the schedule, and though the Flyers are one of the playoff teams the Habs will face, they have the weakest offence, so it’s a good chance to get Primeau in. It’s also true that the younger goalie has already earned a point versus the Flyers this season, in Philadelphia when he lost 3-2 in a shootout.
Martin St-Louis is happy enough with the effort he saw in his return behind the bench to keep the rest of the lineup intact. The Canadiens had a great performance versus a potent Avalanche team, maintaining their defensive structure for 60 minutes. Tonight they can probably afford to take more chances on offence given how challenged the Flyers are to score goals, but they will first need to break down the defensive wall John Tortorella’s team has ridden to its current standing.
