Montreal Canadiens news & notes: Andrew Shaw to IR, Carey Price and Joel Armia to return
Some roster shuffling before the first game of 2019.
The Montreal Canadiens have announced two roster moves before their first game of 2019 against the Vancouver Canucks tonight at the Bell Centre.
Andrew Shaw, who left the game against the Dallas Stars early with an upper-body injury was placed on Injured Reserve with what Claude Julien is calling a neck injury. Due to his concussion history, Shaw is also in concussion protocol.

Shaw suffered a neck injury in the game against Dallas that caused headaches. While team doctors have been unable to confirm a concussion at this point, Shaw is being treated under the concussion protocol given his history.#GoHabsGo
Shaw has 11 goals and 13 assists in 36 games.
Taking Shaw’s place on the roster and in the lineup is Joel Armia. Armia has been out since November 6. He has played 15 games and has three goals and four assists this season. He skated with Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Artturi Lehkonen in warm up, completing an all-Finnish line.
The team also announced that Carey Price will start. Price missed the last leg of the Canadiens road trip in Florida, Tampa Bay and Dallas with a lower-body injury that has been nagging him.
