Mark Barberio placed on waivers

With the arrival of Nikita Nesterov and the return to health of Andrei Markov, Montreal’s blue line is starting to get crowded. They re-assigned Zach Redmond to the AHL on Monday, and now they’re continuing the player shuffle.

Barberio, 26, has four assists in 26 games played with the Canadiens this year. During that time frame he’s produced a 56% (!) CF rating, as well as controlling over 51% of the scoring chances while he’s on the ice.

In 20 games with the IceCaps this year Barberio has earned three goals, as well as 15 assists for an impressive production total. He was named to the AHL All-Star team due to his performance, but had to miss the event seeing as he was playing with the Canadiens at the time.
