Logan Mailloux recalled by the Montreal Canadiens

After spending the season in the AHL, playing all 70 of the Laval Rocket’s games so far, Logan Mailloux has been rewarded with a recall for the final game of the NHL season.

With Kaiden Guhle unable to play with a concussion and Arber Xhekaj done for the season following shoulder surgery, there are chances for players to get some time in this final series of games. On Monday night we saw the NHL debut of Lane Hutson. Tuesday night, it appears we will witness Mailloux’s.

Mailloux has set a Rocket record for goals by a defenceman with 14 in his first professional campaign, and added 33 assists. His 47 points are tied for second among blue-liners in the AHL and five back of the league lead at that position. His defensive game has taken major strides, and he’s become one of Jean-François Houle’s most trusted options on the blue line.

Like Hutson before him, Mailloux will get dropped right into the heat of battle versus a Detroit Red Wings team that desperately needs the win. Hutson got his first point and made some nice offensive plays, and Mailloux will be hoping to achieve the same.
