Laval Rocket sign Connor LaCouvee to a one-year contract

A whirlwind season continues for goaltender Connor LaCouvee who has signed a one year, two-way deal with the AHL’s Laval Rocket. Originally signed to a professional tryout (PTO) deal from the Maine Mariners, the former Minnesota State goalie made his mark with the Rocket earning this new deal.

Since joining the Rocket, LaCouvee has posted a 4-1-1 record to match an outstanding 1.98 goals against average, and .927 save percentage. He’s been serving as a third goalie, or back up due to the constant shuffling in the Rocket net, but has put in a strong showing in each of his six starts and was fully deserving of a bigger commitment from the team.

Due to his PTO likely starting to run low the AHL contract will ensure that LaCouvee remains tied to the Rocket, even if he is sent back down to Maine in the ECHL. As it stands now though the Rocket have four quality options in net at the minor league level, if we count Etienne Marcoux playing in Brampton. This deal will also not take up any contract space since it’s an AHL-only contract, and will still expire at season’s end despite being signed in-season.
