Canadiens sign Jacob de la Rose to a two-year extension

The Montreal Canadiens didn’t have many restricted free agent players to re-sign, but among those needing a new deal was Swedish centre Jacob de la Rose. He is no longer waiting on that list, as the Canadiens have signed him to a two-year contract extension.

With de la Rose locked up, that leaves Kerby Rychel, Phillip Danault, Michael McCarron, and the recently added Joel Armia as restricted free agents in Montreal.

After having difficulty carving out a roster spot with the team, de la Rose seemed to take a step forward last season, and often had a positive effect on team when he was on the ice in the latter part of the season. He, and the team, will hope he can build upon that on his third NHL contract.
