Tomas Plekanec hits 500 career points, contract talks with the Habs have started

Prior to the game against the Bruins, 22 players in the history of the Montreal Canadiens have scored 500 points as a member of the team. Tomas Plekanec‘s insurance marker into the Bruins empty net made him the 23rd player in team history to join that group.

He’s in some pretty exclusive company now, as that list includes names like Richard, Robinson, Shutt, Lemaire, and many more. His next point will tie him with Bob Gainey at 501 points, so it’s easy to see that he has carved himself a spot in the Habs history books. He has spent his entire career as a member of the Canadiens, and he has rewarded the franchise with 10 seasons of pure consistency.

Since joining the team full-time in 2005-06, he has scored 20 or more goals in all but two seasons. He really is the picture of consistency, and this milestone is merely a feather in the cap of a great career for Tomas Plekanec. It’s not a wonder that the team has started talking with him about a new contract, as he will be a free agent after this season, as per TVA Sports.
