Canadiens at Bruins – Ten Things I Don’t Hate About You: Boston Bruins

See, the thing about this exercise is that you know it’s going to be hard, but it’s actually a lot harder than you could possibly expect. I don’t know what we were thinking when we came up with it, but at least we challenged ourselves and each other.
My initial list looked like this:

  1. Patrice Bergeron.
  2. Patrice Bergeron.
  3. Patrice Bergeron.
  4. Patrice Bergeron.
  5. Patrice Bergeron.
  6. Patrice Bergeron.
  7. Patrice Bergeron.
  8. Patrice Bergeron.
  9. Patrice Bergeron.
  10. Patrice Bergeron.

Unfortunately, 86 words including the title does not a blog post make, so I had to try a little harder. Anyway, here goes:

  1. Patrice Bergeron.
  2. Ray Bourque won a Stanley Cup after he got traded from them. That is seriously one of the things I love the most about the Boston Bruins.
  3. Bobby Orr and everything Bobby Orr because if you don’t love Bobby Orr despite the Boston Bruins thing, then your soul is broken.
  4. Andrew Ference is extremely good looking and well-dressed and cares about the environment (Trees for Goals!) and seems like a smart guy and I may have a crush on him which makes me want to scrub my brain out with a brillo pad.
  5. They drafted Brad Marchand, which saved all of the teams I actually like from drafting him, so, thank you, Boston.
  6. To the best of my knowledge, Zdeno Chara has not stepped on any small children. On purpose.
  7. The Bruins might end up beating the Pittsburgh Penguins for us in the Stanley Cup playoffs. I mean, it’s obviously far more likely that Boston and Pittsburgh are going to meet in the Eastern Conference finals, but you never know, and I am grasping at straws, so let’s count this.
  8. Patrice Bergeron. Alright fine. Um… well… they play in Boston, which is my favourite city in North America (seriously, I want to move to it), so that’s a thing, I guess, right?
  9. The Canadiens have the better Subban brother. We got P.K. Subban. Jordan, who is even apparently better offensively than P.K. was at his age, according to like, people, but I haven’t looked it up, is still up for grabs, but Boston is good enough that we don’t really need to worry about them drafting him, I don’t think. Malcolm is promising, but let’s all just face it, P.K. is the greatest. So that’s a thing I like about the Bruins.
  10. Did I mention that they have Patrice Bergeron, and that Andrew Ference is handsome and dreamy? Okay, fine. Well, they won the Stanley Cup in 2011, and also 1929, 1939, 1941, 1970, and 1972. BUT, they didn’t win the cup a lot of other years. Like, a lot a lot of other years. So that’s another thing I like about the Boston Bruins.

That was really hard, you guys. Here’s a bonus thing I don’t hate about the Boston Bruins: they have this great group of bloggers over at Stanley Cup of Chowder you should make friends with, for real.
