With the fifth overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, the Montreal Canadiens have selected David Reinbacher from Austria’s EHC Kloten.
The first defenceman off the board, Reinbacher was regarded as one of the players with the highest floors in the draft. He played 46 games with EHC Kloten in the Swiss National League, scoring three goals and adding 19 assists.
A right-shot blue-liner, Reinbacher will complement all of the left-shot options the Canadiens already have in the system. He helps balanche the scales in the organization, and could play in the NHL relatively soon.
We will have more on what Reinbacher will bring to Montreal in an in-depth article soon.
