The Three Stars

1. Christian Thomas

Battling both injuries and consistency in his first year as a Hamilton Bulldog, Christian Thomas was on display as the leading offensive producer for his team this past week. After being shut out by the Toronto Marlies 2-0 on Friday night, Thomas would figure onto the scoresheet quickly in the following game. He would score a goal and assist in a 6-2 win over the Lake Erie Monsters. He would also mark the Bulldogs only goal in the following game, a 4-1 loss to the Chicago Wolves. Christian Thomas was drafted in the 2nd round, 40th overall by the New York Rangers in the 2010 NHL Draft and was acquired by the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Danny Kristo.

2. Brady Vail

The Windsor Spitfires leading scorer Brady Vail continues to set an impressive offensive pace of late as he continues to work his way up the OHL scoring lists. Vail would open his week marking two assists to help his team gain a 5-2 victory over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Vail would continue his playmaking run the following game, picking up three assists in a wild 8-7 game versus the Sarnia Sting that ended in a shootout victory for Windsor. Vail’s 23 goals and 42 assists have raised him to 8th overall in OHL scoring and he has scored at least two assists in each of his last four contests. Brady Vail was drafted in the 4th round, 94th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2012 NHL Draft.

3. Zach Fucale

The Halifax Mooseheads starting goaltender continues an impressive stretch in nets of late as Zach Fucale continues to improve his statistics while adding to his wins column. Fucale would begin the week backstopping the Mooseheads to a 5-2 victory over the Saint John Sea Dogs, making 22 saves on 24 shots. He would put up another solid effort in the following game, making 20 saves on 21 shots as the Moosheads would rout the Chicoutimi Saguenéens in a 4-1 victory. He would finish the week making 21 saves on 23 shots to help the Mooseheads gains a 4-2 victory over the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Fucale’s latest week has raised his Save Percentage to .907 and lowered his Goals Against Average to 2.3. He is now 2nd in the QMJHL in Goals Against Average and 8th in Save Percentage. Zach Fucale was drafted in the 2nd round, 36th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2013 NHL Draft.
