The Montreal Canadiens announced that Carey Price will not attend the All-Star Game. The veteran goaltender was voted in for a sixth time to participate in the annual League showcase, but after a discussion with the team’s medical staff, it was decided that Price would not attend in order to rest a nagging injury instead.

Carey Price had already missed a road trip earlier in December as a result of the injury which he said he was carrying for seven weeks already.
Certainly this is the right call for the player and the team.
For skipping out on the All-Star Game, Price faces a mandatory one-game suspension, immediately adjacent to the All-Star Game, so either January 23rd against Arizona or February 2nd against New Jersey. The game against the Devils is the first of two back-to-back afternoon games on Super Bowl weekend, which seems to be an ideal time to sit.
Either way it would give Price around two weeks to heal and return ready for the second half of the season.
The Canadiens are currently without a representative for the All-Star game, but Shea Weber is in the running for the final spot, which is a fan vote.
