Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price had knee surgery in New York on Friday, and the team announced that he should be ready for the start of the 2021-22 season.

The recovery period is expected to be 10-12 weeks but he is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season on October 13 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The operation was performed in New York at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) by Dr. Robert Marx, after consultation with his colleague Dr. Bryan Kelly, regarding hip and knee injuries. The hip injury will not require surgery.
Price played every playoff game for the Canadiens on their way to the Stanley Cup Final. He missed the end of the regular season due to a concussion, but played one conditioning game in the American Hockey League.
He was left unprotected in the NHL’s Expansion Draft on Wednesday, but he was not taken by the Seattle Kraken. Canadiens captain Shea Weber is expected to miss at least the entire 2021-22 regular season.
