That was bar none the worst period the Montreal Canadiens have played this season, and they weren’t helped by a series of awful calls and even worse non-calls.
P.K. Subban continues to get penalties for not playing hockey the white right way, but the worst call of the period came in the form of both officials completely ignoring a blatant head shot by Gabriel Bourque on Josh Gorges.
Even worse? The coaching staff didn’t keep him off the ice for a single shift. Gorges was right back out there, deflecting a shot past Carey Price to give the Predators a 1-0 lead. It wasn’t his fault, but there’s no way that Gorges should be playing in this game without going through the quiet room. Not only was he subject to a head shot, but his head hit off the glass right after and he looked groggy. An incredibly irresponsible decision by the Canadiens.
