The Canadiens have built an identity as a 60-minute team for the season, and the relentless effort has earned them several points already this season — more than many would have expected to this point.

On Saturday night, the team wasn’t able to reach that 2018-19 standard, and it saw them blow the two-goal lead they held after 20 minutes, eventually falling in overtime. The result did still allow them to add to their point collection for a sixth time in the opening seven games.

Paul Byron & co. won’t be happy with a single point for a second consecutive game, and you can bet there won’t be a similar drop in performance in tonight’s contest. The former Flame did his part versus the Senators, with two points to bring his point tally to seven.

Byron, Tomas Tatar, and Brendan Gallagher may need to continue their scoring ways to claim the two points, as the Flames are even hotter to start the season. Only the Colorado Avalanche have more goals in the Western Conference than the Canadian club. They have four forwards scoring at at least a point-per-game pace, led, as ever, by Johnny Gaudreau with 12 points in eight games.

It could be a high-event contest tonight, and the Canadiens will be prepared this time around.
