Canadiens sign Jiri Sekac

To be honest I had never heard the name Jiri Sekac before today but the 6′ 2″ 190 lbs forward from the Czech Republic is make the jump to North American professional hockey. While he was cut from his OHL team Sekac performed well in the USHL and eventually signed to play in Russia in the KHL where he has spent the last few years.

Last year for HC Lev Praha Sekac put up 28 points in 47 games which is nothing to scoff at in one of the best leagues in the world. According to TSN’s Bob McKenzie his performance attracted the attention of at least a dozen NHL teams with the Habs being the clear winners here. It is unclear whether or not he’ll crack the Habs lineup or if he’ll play in Hamilton. Stay tuned for more details here at EOTP.

For a bit more info our friends at Lighthouse Hockey wrote this piece on Sekac.
