For our new readers and members, the Top Six Minutes is a continuation of the discussion in the game thread. We try to keep it light and entertaining. Full recaps are up the morning after every game.
Pre-game thoughts
- It’s a Saturday night battle against the Bruins. Let’s do this!/
First period
- We’re five minutes in. Shouldn’t you have scored by now Domi?
- Well, that was a not-so-great power play. Maybe next practice should focus on passing techniques.
- A giveaway has Domi making a beeline to the net but can’t get a shot off.
- Gally goal!! Man, I just love those.
- Not to be outdone, Domi finds the back of the net one minute later on his knees. It’s a bit late by Domi standards but we’ll take it!
- His fifth goal and riding a sweet six-game point streak. Galchenyuk who?
- Price keeps the lead during the penalty kill with some “whoohoo saves” (trademarked)/
Second period
- A Domi-Gallagher combo almost makes it 3-0.
- Price with a slick “not tonight boys” save on Moore.
- Donato snipes it past Price short-side high to cut the lead in half.
- Coach’s challenge on that one for off-side.
- It worked! Our coach’s challenge actually worked! Not up in here Bruins.
- So, the passing part has been worked out for the power play, now next time how about you try shooting?
- Donato trips in the blue line, Nordstrom gets off a slapshot and Price whips out a beauty of a windmill save with one second left. /
Third Period
- No scoring in the second period. I’d be perfectly fine with no scoring in the third too. Let’s just call it a game, shall we?
- Rask gets a tripping call. Someone should explain the rules to him for when he ventures from his net. Or not.
- We’re mixing it up with a little four-on-four as Drouin and Marchand go sit in the corner for interference and roughing (guess who’s in for roughing?)
- Price is looking very Price-like tonight (read: hot)
- Benn with an empty-netter to make it 3-0!
- SHUTOUT!! Price passes Roy in Montreal goalie wins as he shut the door on the Bruins on their home turf./
