The online jersey auction held by the NHL, Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins raised $63,484.52 for Denna Laing’s recovery.
After the unfortunate neck injury to the Boston Pride player at the women’s outdoor classic, the Canadiens and Bruins came together before their game on January 19. The two NHL teams decided to wear their Winter Classic jerseys and put them up for auction through NHL.com.
The auctions came to an end on February 11 and all proceeds going towards expenses related to Laing’s recovery and rehab.
The highest amount was $5,100 paid for Patrice Bergeron’s jersey who has been one of the most active players in helping raise money. The highest Canadiens jersey was P.K. Subban at $2,870 and Tomas Plekanec at $2,420. Boston native Mike Condon’s jersey went for $1,300.
Signs of support for Laing have been made by many teams and leagues since the incident from both men’s and women’s hockey. The NHL announced at the All-Star Game that they also donated money.
