Shea Weber named Alternate Captain for Canada at the World Cup

Hockey Canada announced their captains for the World Cup of Hockey today, and they have named Shea Weber an alternate. No surprise as to who is wearing the C, as that will be none other than Sidney Crosby, with Jonathan Toews taking the other alternate spot.

The leadership group that Canada is rolling with includes these three players who have been around since the 2010 gold medal win at the Olympics in Vancouver. So there is a ton of international experience for Canada between these three, and they’ll look to lead a pretty young group to victory over the rest of the world.

Weber, of course, will also be wearing the same letter in October when he laces up for the Montreal Canadiens for the first time.
