The first and likely only fourth generation Montreal Canadiens player, Blake Geoffrion suffered a gruesome injury as a skate hit him in the head after a very hard, legal check. It was a freak accident that caused a depressed skull fracture, and although he appeared okay at first, suffered seizures in the hospital where he was being treated.
Blake’s decision to step away from the game is likely a wise one, as he has a degree and will be able to make a life for himself, and the risk of exacerbating his head injury is one not worth taking.
We wish Blake all the luck in the world in his future endeavours.
