Group A Preliminary Games
Two teams look to rebound after opening day losses to the two North American teams. Last year, a loss to Denmark in the round robin sent Finland down a downward spiral that sent them to the relegation round. Habs second-round pick Joni Ikonen will look to lead the charge. The returning players hope to reverse that result from last year. For Denmark, a tough first period sent them towards a blowout loss to the USA and they will look for a better start after a day off. The game will be shown on TSN 1/4 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.

Montreal Canadiens prospect Ryan Poehling was one of the few Americans to not record a point against Denmark, and he will look to respond in this one as the USA look to keep pace with Canada. Slovakia lost 6-0 to Canada yesterday and have a very tough task ahead of them in a back-to-back scenario that no team in the tournament would envy. Group B Preliminary Games
Two teams that had slow starts to their openers face each other on day two. The difference is that while Russia fell behind 5-2 before scoring two late goals and eventually losing 5-4 to the Czech Republic, Switzerland came back from a 2-1 deficit in the third period en route to a 3-2 win. Russia will likely need to win this game in order to avoid Canada or the USA in the quarterfinals. The game will be on TSN 3/5 and RDS2 in Canada. NHL Network in the US will show the game taped on Friday at 6:00 a.m.

An early battle for the top of Group B as two teams to win their opening game face-off. The Czech Republic likely weren’t the favourites to beat Russia, but thanks to Filip Chytil, Martin Necas, and the rest of their skilled forward group they were able to pull off the early upset. Sweden was tied 1-1 with Belarus after 20 minutes before eventually scoring five straight goals in a 6-1 victory. The game will be on TSN 1/4 and RDS in Canada and NHL Network in the USA.
