As we all know, the Montreal Canadiens’ farm system needs an injection of talent. It is a shallow prospect pool in dire need of blue-chip youngsters. With a lot of pre-draft prep and a bit of luck, Marc Bergevin and Trevor Timmins will start to restock the cupboard today in the first of seven rounds of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.
The Canadiens hold the third overall pick in this year’s draft. Looking through all the experts’ opinions online, we’ve compiled a list of mock drafts, singling out which player the Canadiens are projected to take.
Filip Zadina
Many outlets (including this one) have the Canadiens doing the simplest thing and taking the player who ranks as the third-best prospect at most scouting services.

At the end of the day, even though there were a few votes going to balanced forward Kotkaniemi (4) and the gritty power forward Brady Tkachuk (5) , the overwhelming majority of experts and draft predictions are calling the high-octane, high-scoring Filip Zadina as the Habs’ pick. You may well remember that EOTP picked Zadina in the recent SB Nation mock draft.
Bergevin and Timmins will have a key decision to make tonight in Dallas. The Canadiens are in a position to add an impact player, and they have to make the right choice.
