The mid-field battle between the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders, and New York Rangers reached a stalemate as all three teams lost in regulation.

The Colorado Avalanche did their part to pull themselves into a playoff position, but didn’t get any help from the teams above them. Falling 5-0 to the Avs, perhaps the Blackhawks needed an accountant in net again.

They’re going to miss the playoffs, and the Carolina Hurricanes are also going to miss out on a good draft position with a late-season run.

Lowlight of the night

That won’t increase your season point total, rookie.

Today’s schedule: The penultimate Saturday night of the 2017-18 regular season holds 12 games. The rankings could change early as the Florida Panthers, Ottawa Senators, Detroit Red Wings, and Vancouver Canucks start things off in the afternoon. Worst plays first as the Buffalo Sabres visit the Nashville Predators. The Arizona Coyotes can have a say in the Western Conference race by beating the St. Louis Blues. And the latest instalment of the Battle of Alberta will just serve as a means for Connor McDavid to extend his Art Ross lead.
