Canadiens‘ GM Marc Bergevin announced today the signing of free agent Doug Murray to a one-year contract through the 2013-2014 season.
Murray, 33, will begin his ninth NHL campaign, after completing the 2012-13 season in a split with the San Jose Sharks and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
In 33 games played last year, Murray put up one goal, five assists and 35 PIM.
The 6’3, 245 lbs defenseman will bring some much needed toughness to the Habs defensive corps, and will provide insurance as Alexander Emelin recovers from his injury.
UPDATE: As per TSN the deal is worth $1.5 million.
