Super Bowl XLVIII Open Thread: Broncos vs Seahawks

I’m not a huge fan of the NFL, or football in general, but you know who I am a fan of? Richard Sherman. The way he handled a completely unfair controversy and his obvious intelligence jumps out at me in a huge way. Because of that, I’ll be rooting for the Seattle Seahawks today instead of the Denver Broncos.

I don’t really know anything about this sport though so I leave it up to the commentariat to school me in the ways of the game.

Someone mentioned on twitter earlier today that the last time the Montreal Canadiens lost both games on Super Bowl weekend was 1999, which is the last time the Broncos won the championship. That’s a pretty odd coincidence that has nothing to do with the result of today’s game, but sports are a superstitious mistress, so good luck Seattle.

Doesn’t matter who you’re cheering for, everyone is welcome. Let’s get the biggest football party of the year going!
