2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Game 5: Boston Bruins vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

BOS leads 3-1

How to watch

Start time: 7:00 PM EDT / ?4:00 PM PDT
In Canada: CBC, Sportsnet (English) TVA Sports (French)

Streaming: CBC Gem, ESPN+, Sportsnet+

Toronto received no benefit from its home crowd in two matches at Scotiabank Arena, and now the Maple Leafs need to try to stay alive at TD Garden, the site of their only win so far. It sounds like Joseph Woll will get the start in net over Ilya Samsonov, while Auston Matthews will be a game-time decision.

Game 5: Carolina Hurricanes vs. New York Islanders

CAR leads 3-1

How to watch

Start time: 7:30 PM EDT / 4:30 PM PDT
In Canada: Sportsnet 360 (English) TVA Sports 2 (French)
In the U.S.: TBS
Streaming: ESPN+, Sportsnet+

The Islanders got a great game from captain Anders Lee and a timely overtime goal from Mathew Barzal in Game 4 to avoid being swept. They will need a similar performance in Raleigh to keep this series alive.

Game 5: Winnipeg Jets vs. Colorado Avalanche

COL leads 3-1

How to watch

Start time: 9:50 PM EDT / 6:50 PM PDT
In Canada: CBC, Sportsnet West (English) TVA Sports (French)
In the U.S.: ESPN
Streaming: CBC Gem, ESPN+, Sportsnet+

Alexander Georgiev figured out what he had done wrong in Game 1, bouncing back as the series progressed. Connor Hellebuyck has yet to do so, and that’s one of the reasons why the Winnipeg Jets, one of the top Stanley Cup contenders, are facing the possibility of a short playoff run.

Game 5: Vancouver Canucks vs. Nashville Predators

VAN leads 3-1

How to watch

Start time: 10:00 PM EDT / 7:00 PM PDT
In Canada: Sportsnet (English) TVA Sports 2 (French)
In the U.S.: TBS
Streaming: ESPN+, Sportsnet+

Nashville has played better, but Vancouver has found more offence from the few shots they’ve been generating and has a shot at being the first Canadian team to punch its ticket to Round 2. Whichever goaltender the Canucks have called upon has managed to do just enough to help them to a 3-1 series lead, and that’s all they need to knock off the Predators in Game 5.
