IceCaps Player of the Week: Daniel Carr
After failing to record a goal in the first two weeks of the season, last year’s rookie-goal-scoring leader exploded onto the scoresheet. The sophomore forward notched a trio of goals and one assist in four games of action. He also scored one of the prettiest goals of the young AHL season against Bridgeport, where he broke in alone and deked the Sound Tigers’ goalie before scoring on his backhand.
He, along with Christian Thomas and Michael McCarron, are one of the hottest forward groups in the AHL, and their contributions alongside those from the Charles Hudon – Sven Andrighetto – Bud Holloway line are the major reason why the IceCaps sit atop the AHL standings.

Charles Hudon: It’s beginning to sound like a broken record, but it was another outstanding week for the Alma, QC native as he recorded a goal and two assists.
Christian Thomas: It would appear that the speedy winger has no plans to slow down his current scoring run. Thomas recorded a goal and three assists on the week; none better than this rocket against Bridgeport.
Mark Barberio: The veteran defenseman continues to contribute all over the ice, notching his first goal of the year and a pair of assists.
Mac Bennett: The former Michigan standout grabbed his first goal of the season this week against Binghamton.
Bud Holloway: The offseason signing continues to be impressive for the IceCaps. The alternate captain notched a pair of goals and two assists on the week, bringing him to second in the AHL scoring race with 10 points.
Jacob de la Rose: The young Swede has had a slow start to his second pro season in North America. While playing tough minutes alongside Gabriel Dumont and Nikita Scherbak this week, he grabbed one assist.
Gabriel Dumont: The IceCaps captain finally made his way onto the scoresheet this week, with a pair of goals against Binghamton and an assist vs Bridgeport.
Joel Hanley: The relatively unknown UFA signing continues to be a steady presence for the IceCaps as he recorded an assist this past week.
Brett Lernout: It’s slow going for the rookie blue-liner, as he failed to record a point this week.
Sven Andrighetto: Despite being known for his goal-scoring prowess, the Swiss sniper showed off his playmaking ability this week, collecting three assists.
Connor Crisp: Not much to report on Crisp outside of him recording another fight.
Darren Dietz: The slow start for Dietz is a thing of the past. He recorded his first goal of the year along with a trio of assists.
Morgan Ellis: The AHL veteran continues to show his worth for the IceCaps as he added another assist to his point totals.
Michael McCarron: After a hat trick last week, the rookie forward followed it up with a three point week, recording a goal and two assists.
Nikita Scherbak: It took a bit longer then expected, but Scherbak finally recorded his first professional goal against Bridgeport.
Jeremy Grégoire: Despite not recording any points this week, Gregoire’s playmaking skill has been evident on the IceCaps’ fourth line.
Markus Eisenschmid: One of several rookies on the team, the young German is a crucial cog in one of the AHL’s top-ranking penalty kills. He is still in search of his first pro point, however.
Dustin Tokarski: It was a tough week for the veteran netminder, as he dropped a pair of games in overtime and the shootout.
Zach Fucale: The rookie goalie is making the most of his starts for the IceCaps, recording a pair of wins, and even notching an assist on a Daniel Carr goal.

St. John’s currently sits second overall in the AHL’s Eastern Conference, and first overall in the North Division with a 5-1-2 record, giving them 12 points. The IceCaps will be back in action this week when they take on the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Wednesday, October 28, and Friday, October 30, before travelling to Hershey to face the Bears on Halloween.
