IceCaps Weekly Report: Sven Andrighetto displaying his skills at every level

IceCaps Player of the Week: Sven Andrighetto

So far this season, we’ve witnessed Sven Andrighetto bounce from the St. John’s IceCaps to the Montreal Canadiens and back again. Being sent back to the IceCaps doesn’t throw a wrench in Andrighetto’s playing style one bit.

During the first half of the IceCaps six-game road trip, Andrighetto racked up four points when he found the back of the net in all three games, picked up an assist and was named first star.

There’s no doubt, we have not seen the last of him in the Habs lineup, but no matter where he is, he’s a force to be reckoned with on the ice.

Bud Holloway: After the game against the Toronto Marlies on January 17th, the alternate captain has been MIA. He didn’t see any ice time during the first half of the road trip and is currently day-to-day with an undisclosed injury.

Charles Hudon: Hudon helped his team get the win in both games against the Devils last weekend. During Friday’s game he sniped a goal off a shot from the face-off circle to take the lead. On Saturday, he got the assist on Andrighetto’s goal and was the IceCaps’ Hardest Working Player.

Michael McCarron: Picked up one assist and will be heading to the AHL All-Star Game on January 31st.

Daniel Carr: Due to an injury to Paul Byron, Carr was recalled by the Canadiens on January 21st. Before leaving, Carr played his 100th career AHL game. During the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night, he (unofficially) scored on a deflection of a Tomas Fleischmann shot.

Mark Barberio: Still proving he’s an asset to the Montreal Canadiens since being called up in December, Barberio scored his first goal with the Habs against the Boston Bruins on January 19th.

Mac Bennett: The defenseman was scratched during all three games.

Lucas Lessio: Playing on the top line alongside McCarron and Scherbak, the left winger played strong again this week, using his speed to create lots of scoring chances, but unable to find the back of the net.

Gabriel Dumont: The captain helped keep his team in the games with three assists, put the IceCaps in the lead with a goal against the Devils, and was named the IceCaps Hardest Working Player in that contest.

Joel Hanley: Picked up an assist on Scherbak’s goal against the Devils.

Brett Lernout: Like the previous report, Lernout recorded no points again this week.

Connor Crisp: Out indefinitely with an injury.

Darren Dietz: After having a productive sequence of game the previous week, Dietz was unlucky on the ice and remained off the scoresheet.

Morgan Ellis: Ever since Barberio got the call to the Habs, Ellis has been showing his defensive skills. He added to his offensive tally when he sniped a rocket from the point to tie the game against the Albany Devils at one apiece.

Jacob de la Rose: Currently still up with the Canadiens, but no points to report as of yet for the winger.

Nikita Scherbak: Not long back after an extensive period on the injury list, Scherbak notched his first goal since his return.

Jeremy Grégoire: Failed to record a point — or even a shot — in three games played.

Mark MacMillan: Unable to add any points, it was an unproductive outing for MacMillan during the first half of the road trip.

Markus Eisenschmid: After scoring his first pro-goal last week, he was promoted to the second line during the match-up against the Albany Devils on Friday.

Max Friberg: Playing on the third line with Dumont and Bournival seems to be working for Friberg. He notched one goal and two assists, one to help give the IceCaps a lead against the Devils.

Michael Bournival: Added two assists to his tally and, like teammate Daniel Carr, played his 100th career AHL game against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Eddie Pasquale: Had a first-star performance in the second game of the weekend sweep of the Albany Devils, kicking out 32 of 33 shots.

Zachary Fucale: Despite the trip starting with an overtime loss for the goalie, he was solid in net and brought home the win and second-star honours against the Devils on Friday.
