Canadiens vs. Blue Jackets second period thread

The Habs do get a lot of shot attempts. It looks really good on a graph, like they are accomplishing something. By the first commercial timeout of the first period, the Habs had generated only 4 shots on 12 shot attempts, and no goals and no convincing chances. Just a lot of activity in the offensive zone and flinging shots from everywhere.

Although they were not hitting the net that often, the Habs’ aggressive start earned them a powerplay that did not convert, but had good control in the offensive zone if you’re looking for any positives when it comes to the powerplay. Not converted on the powerplay proved to be costly, as the Blue Jackets would get a powerplay and score eight seconds into their man advantage.

The Habs got another powerplay later on in the first period but couldn’t isolate P.K. Subban for an effective shot, which seems to their only creative outlet for the powerplay. This cost them again, as the Blue Jackets went up 2-0 on a powerplay a few minutes later.

The Habs trail 2-0 heading into the second period.
