IceCaps Player of the Week: Bud Holloway
Bud Holloway played hard this week and seemed to still have a little holiday cheer bubbling inside.
Finishing the last leg of a five-game road trip with two assists, Holloway remains fifth in league scoring with 30 points. Aside from his steady stream of points, Holloway had two memorable moments during the game against the Binghamton Senators this week.
The first was a desperation skate save during the final minutes of the game to save an empty netter, managing to keep his team in the game for one last chance to tie it up before ultimately falling 3-2.
The second was a kiss he planted on the helmet of teammate Charles Hudon when they were shown on the Kiss Cam during a stoppage of play, keeping the mood light to help with the pressures of trying to achieve a playoff spot.
Holloway has long preached the “work hard and have fun” attitude, and this week he proved that he practises what he preaches.

Charles Hudon: A force to be reckoned with, Hudon sniped a power-play marker and an assist this week. He was also named the IceCaps’ Hardest Working Player against the Rochester Americans and, as a bonus, got a little love from fellow teammate Bud Holloway on the Kiss Cam.
Michael McCarron: On the receiving end of a puck to the throat while facing the Rochester Americans, McCarron was unable to play for the remainder of the road trip, unfortunately. He’s expected to be back for the first home game on January 8.
Daniel Carr: Proving he has been a fantastic addition to the Montreal Canadiens, Carr earned a spot in the Winter Classic lineup on New Year’s Day.
Sven Andrighetto: Andrighetto was reassigned to the IceCaps on New Year’s Eve, just before the Winter Classic, to open a spot for Gallagher’s return. He played against the Senators that night in his first game with the IceCaps since November 20th, scoring one goal. He was recalled by the Canadiens again after the Winter Classic when it was discovered that Dale Weise’s injury was expected to keep him out for five-to-ten games.
Mark Barberio: Still holding his own while up with the Canadiens, Barberio was chosen to participate in the Winter Classic game, after which captain Max Pacoiretty referrer to him as one of the best players during the game. Barberio registered his first NHL assist of the season in the 5-1 win over the Bruins in Foxboro.
Mac Bennett: The defenseman was scratched during the NYE game against the Senators, and failed to produce any points during the other two games.
Lucas Lessio: He played strong this week, adding an assist and an unassisted goal on an individual effort from his own blue line.
Gabriel Dumont: The captain managed a short-handed goal and earned second-star honours against the Amerks.
Joel Hanley: No points to report for Hanley this week, as the defence as a whole contributed very little offence in the three games played.
Brett Lernout: After scoring an assist last week, the rookie failed to record a point during the last stretch of the road trip.
Connor Crisp: Still out with an injury, Crisp was scratched for all games.
Darren Dietz: Dietz grabbed another assist this week and was named the IceCaps’ Hardest Working Player after Thursday’s game versus the Senators.
Morgan Ellis: He notched his 11th assist of the season on Jeremy Grégoire’s goal against the Utica Comets.
Jacob de la Rose: Recovering well from his injury, he was one of the strongest players this week, checking well and playing hard, though not getting on the scoresheet.
Nikita Scherbak: Still on the injury list, Scherbak is expected to return sometime this month.
Jeremy Grégoire: He made his way onto the scoresheet with a goal this week, helping his team beat the Comets before heading back home.
Mark MacMillan: Unable to add any points, it was another unproductive outing for MacMillan.
Markus Eisenschmid: He seems to have gotten back into the groove after his stint in the IR, picking up an assist and earning the Hardest Working Player nod after their win over the Comets.
Tim Bozon: Bozon rejoined the team after a recall from Brampton of the ECHL, but didn’t see any game action with St. John’s.
Michael Bournival: Bournival got his fifth point since his return from the post-concussion syndrome that kept him out of action for the first half of the season.
Dustin Tokarski: After being sent back to the IceCaps after the Canadiens acquired Ben Scrivens, the netminder was a bit shaky during his first game back. He managed to hold on to get his team to a shootout, but was unable to stop any of the three shots during the breakaway contest, losing 3-2. In his second start however, he was named the first star, kicking out 26 of 27 shots for a 3-1 win.
Zachary Fucale: Between the pipes for only one of the three games, Fucale was quite solid in net, but was unable to bring home the win, letting in three of the 34 shots he faced.

Coming back after the Christmas break, the IceCaps had a tough time getting their footing, losing 3-2 the Amerks and then again to the Senators the following night. They kicked off 2016 with an important 3-1 win against the Comets, maintaining their position at number three in the North Division, just ahead of Utica in fourth.
