IceCaps Player of the Week: Jeremy Gregoire
It’s still early in the year, but the IceCaps have got off to a decent start, going 1-1-0 in two games of action thus far.
It was an outstanding start to a professional career, as Jeremy Gregoire notched his first AHL goal against the Hartford Wolfpack. And he got his first in style, as it was a shorthanded goal for the young forward, who is already making an impact for the IceCaps. Joel Hanley and Jacob de la Rose both had assists on the play.
Contributing offense on the penalty kill is a great sign for Gregoire, who struggled a bit in preseason action, and racked up fighting majors instead.

Charles Hudon: Picking up right where he left off last season, Hudon hit the scoresheet with an empty net goal against Hartford. The sophomore forward almost tallied a second goal on a penalty shot against Bridgeport, but he hit the crossbar after undressing the goaltender.
Bud Holloway: The former SHL standout had a solid start to his IceCaps career, recording 10 shots on goal, and notching the first IceCaps goal of the season against Hartford.
Angelo Miceli: After an impressive preseason, Miceli earned an AHL deal with the IceCaps. He responded by tipping home a goal against Bridgeport, after which he was assaulted by Bracken Kearns.
Mark Barberio: It appears that the veteran blueliner has taken over for Davis Drewiske as the “guy who plays in all situations” for the IceCaps. He recorded one assist on Bud Holloway’s goal during the week.
Mac Bennett: It was a good start to the year for the NCAA product, as Bennett recorded an assist on Angelo Miceli’s goal.
Daniel Carr: Last year’s leading rookie goal scorer started his sophomore season with an assist on Charles Hudon’s empty net goal.
Jacob de la Rose: Stepping into the role of St. John’s number one centre, de la Rose was able to grab one assist this week.
Gabriel Dumont: The IceCaps captain made his way onto the scoresheet this week, assisting on Bud Holloway’s goal against Hartford.
Joel Hanley: Much like his fellow defencemen, Hanley recorded a single assist this week on Jeremy Gregoire’s shorthanded goal.
Brett Lernout: Following up a solid preseason and rookie tournament Lernout tallied his first point with the IceCaps this week, an assist on Miceli’s goal against Bridgeport.
Sven Andrighetto: Despite looking dangerous all weekend, Andrighetto was without a point in two games.
Connor Crisp: It was a very interesting weekend for the truculent forward. He recorded no points, but stepped in to defend Angelo Miceli when he was attacked by Bridgeport’s Bracken Kearns. For the defense of his teammate, Crisp was thrown out of the game, but not before taking Kearns behind the woodshed for attacking his teammate.
Darren Dietz: Despite generating shots from the blueline, the third year defenceman was unable to make the scoresheet. He also recorded a fighting major in the line brawl against Bridgeport.
Morgan Ellis: It appears that Ellis will be eating big minutes for Sylvain Lefebvre this year, but he did not record any points this weekend.
Michael McCarron: It was a debut weekend to forget for McCarron, who recorded zero shots and four penalty minutes.
Nikita Scherbak: Much like McCarron, Scherbak struggled to make an impact in his AHL regular season debut, and recorded four penalty minutes while putting four shots on goal.
Christian Thomas: Outside of a few bursts of speed, Thomas wasn’t much of a factor for the IceCaps this week, managing only two shots.
Dustin Tokarski: Despite being sent down by Montreal, Tokarski would respond to the challenge with a 31 save win against Hartford. The following night against Bridgeport was a different story, as the Sound Tigers hung six goals on him.
Zach Fucale: The rookie goalie did not receive any starts this week for St. John’s.

It’s worth noting that the IceCaps sent both Travis Brown and Eddie Pasqualie to the Brampton Beast.
The IceCaps will be back in action for their home opener against the Rochester Amerks on Friday October 16, they’ll face the Sabres AHL club again the following night before facing Binghamton in a pair of games on October 20 and 21.
