Report: Something in the works between Arizona and Montreal

As if today couldn’t get any more interesting, there may be a move between the Arizona Coyotes and Montreal Canadiens.

If it is Jarred Tinordi, he has only played in three NHL games this season as he is stuck on the Canadiens depth chart, and the team didn’t want to risk losing him for nothing on waivers. He also played six games for the St. John’s IceCaps on a conditioning stint. Tinordi was the Canadiens first round pick, 22nd overall in 2010.

Apparently John Scott will be on his way back to the Habs. Sigh.

Things got more complicated for Tinordi when Mark Barberio passed him on the depth chart as well. This was never a good situation for Tinordi who did play well in his small amount of NHL time this season. The Canadiens were facing a logjam on defence with Greg Pateryn also on the NHL roster and Tom Gilbert, currently injured, skating with the team.

Tinordi made his NHL debut in 2012-13 when he played eight regular season games and five playoff games in the team’s first round loss to the Ottawa Senators. He had six assists in 46 NHL games with the Canadiens.

This would be the second trade between the Canadiens and Coyotes in a month as the Habs sent Christian Thomas to Arizona in exchange for forward Lucas Lessio in December.
