Montreal Canadiens Links

  • Kerry Fraser explains why Pavel Datsyuk‘s disallowed goal was the correct call. [TSN]
  • Speaking of refereeing, former NHL player and referee Paul Stewart writes this piece dismissing the “Montreal factor” (i.e., claims that referees gives preferential treatment to popular teams like Montreal and Toronto). “I can honestly say that I never cared one iota what building I was in or which two teams were playing.” [Huffington Post]
  • Zachary Fucale was named to the roster for the QMJHL 2014 Subway Super Series. Earlier this year he had also started for Canada in the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship. Basically, the guy’s good in net. [Canadiens]
  • Nathan Beaulieu and Michael Bournival have been sent to Hamilton. They’ll probably rejoin the Habs for the Edmonton Oilers game on Sunday, but right now they need playing time after sitting out so many games in Montreal. [EOTP]
  • (French) RDS writer Bertrand Raymond thinks that Rene Bourque is making excuses about his poor performance. It’s a merciless take down of a player who’s more mediocre than outright bad, but I mean, you’ve all seen this, right? [RDS]
  • (French) Charles Hudon, a fifth-round 2012 draft pick, is starting his season off well with the Hamilton Bulldogs. He spent time after his draft year recovering from a back injury, which also kept him out of the Worlds. Currently, he leads the Bulldogs with four points in three games. [La Presse]
